Landscape Project of Dujiangyan

Dujiangyan is located in the west of Dujiangyan City, Chengdu Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is situated on the Min River in the western part of the Chengdu Plain. It is a vast engineering system composed of the main canal hub (Fish Mouth, Flying Sand Dam, and Bottle Mouth), various water diversion channels in the irrigation area, various engineering structures, large, medium and small-sized reservoirs and ponds, etc. The area of the main canal hub is over 200 mu. It is responsible for the irrigation of 11.65 million mu of farmland in the central and western regions of Sichuan Basin, the water supply of many key enterprises and urban life in Chengdu, as well as flood control, power generation, water transportation, aquaculture, breeding, forestry, tourism, environmental protection and other multiple goals. It is an indispensable water conservancy infrastructure for the economic development of Sichuan Province. 

Dujiangyan is a renowned water conservancy project and tourist destination in China. It boasts rich historical culture and natural landscapes, and is a World Cultural Heritage site and a 5A-level tourist attraction.

Main Attractions

Dujiangyan Irrigation Project: Constructed by Li Bing and his son in 256 BC, it is the oldest and largest un-dammed water diversion project still existing in the world. It mainly consists of the Fish Mouth Diversion Dam, the Flying Sand Dam for Flood Release, and the Bottle Mouth Water Diversion Outlet. It is still functioning to irrigate and prevent floods to this day.

Liupu Park: The park features ancient trees and beautiful natural scenery, making it an ideal place for tourists to relax and take photos.

Anlan Bridge: This ancient bridge is one of the significant landmarks of Dujiangyan. Standing on the bridge, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding scenery.

The Twin Kings Temple: This temple honors Li Bing and his son. It is a place dedicated to commemorating this remarkable water engineering master and holds significant cultural importance.

Qingcheng Mountain: Not far from Dujiangyan, it is a famous Taoist mountain. It is renowned for its beautiful natural scenery and rich cultural heritage.
